What does WIOA actually pay for? In program year 2024 (July 2024 to June 2025), WIOA paid toward the training of at least 179,611 people at programs in the 95 fields on this site. 4 in 10 of them trained to drive trucks for a commercial driver's license.1
Next came RN programs (8%), LPN programs (7%) and CNA programs (7%). The counts come from the 7,977 programs that reported how many people WIOA paid for with a training account; a program reports the count only from 3 people up, so every figure here is a minimum.

Which states approve the most training programs per resident? Alaska (50.1), Wyoming (48.8) and New Hampshire (47.3) approve the most programs in these fields for every 100,000 people; New York (2.7), the District of Columbia (3.1) and South Carolina (3.2) the fewest. How many programs a state lists also depends on how it files them: some list each class of a certificate on its own.2

How these WIOA numbers are made Programs: every program in the 95 fields on this site that a state approved for WIOA funding, from the US Department of Labor's file for program year 2024 (July 2024 to June 2025). A program counts for the state that approved it, wherever its classes are. People WIOA paid for: each program's count of people who trained there with a WIOA training account. Programs report it only from 3 people up, and some report nothing, so the totals are minimums. Where a state's count is under a quarter of the US rate per resident (52.3 per 100,000 people), the table marks it as likely incomplete: WIOA most likely paid for more people there than its programs reported. Per 100,000 people: approved programs divided by the Census Bureau's population estimate for July 1, 2024. The other territories have no estimate in that table. The file covers one program year, so these pages show differences between fields and states, not changes over time. How the site handles the data .
